Nicolaie “Todi” Todirita is the Ground Segment Project Manager for the Joint Polar Satellite System, where he manages and oversees all aspects of the development and sustainment of the ground system. Todi previously served at the Ground Deputy Project Manager for over three years and has worked on interagency missions between NOAA, NASA, EUMETSAT, CNES, JAXA and USGS for over 20 years.

Todi began his work with NOAA as a systems engineer on the Polar Operational Environmental Satellites (POES) constellation where he monitored and controlled ground systems activities and anomalies. Todi later began his work at Goddard Space Flight Center on Landsat 8 as the Flight Systems Manager for the USGS where he provided mission development support and participated in the decision making for the design, development, and operation of the ground support systems. Todi also worked on the GOES-R mission ground systems before coming to JPSS in 2015 as the Command, Control and Communication (C3) Deputy Manager and C3 Branch Chief. Over his nearly nine years with the program, Todi has provided technical leadership, direction, and oversight to all areas of the ground segment project as well as serving as the EUMETSAT/GOSAT-GW Mission Manager where he was the liaison between the international partners and the JPSS Ground project.

Todi earned his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from `Gh. Asachi` Technical University of Iasi, Romania and his Masters in Systems Engineering from Johns Hopkins University.
