Maureen (Mo) Madden serves as Deputy Director for the NESDIS Center for Satellite Applications and Research (STAR), where she works to advance all of NOAA’s missions with the power of satellite remote sensing science. She is passionate about improving processes and supporting the people of STAR.
She joined NOAA/NESDIS in October 2014 as the Deputy Director of the Office of Satellite Ground Services (OSGS) and over five years helped found and build that program.
Before NOAA, Ms. Madden spent 23 years at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center’s High Energy Astrophysics Lab. While there she developed high energy particle detectors and served as an Instrument Manager for the WIND and ACE missions. She served as an Optical Lead Engineer for the ICESAT mission and the SMEX Mission Director, where she led operations for six missions at three distinct operations centers. In her final role at NASA, Ms. Madden served as the Deputy Mission Operation Manager for the J1 spacecraft on the JPSS project, and as the Assistant Deputy Project Manager for GOES-R Ground Segment.
Ms. Madden has a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from Lewis University and a Masters of Science in Applied Physics from Northern Illinois University.
